Finished!!!

Jess has had a nap this morning so I've managed to finish my card for CPS #28 !!!

The sketch seemed to scream out "pocket" to me so that's what I went with. I sewed 2 pieces of brown cardstock together using a blanket stitch and decorated the front.

Used for the outer: generic cardstock, KI Memories paper (from the Funky Paper Pad - again!), KI Memories ribbons, fabric flowers, button from my box, DCWV alpha stickers, MM mailbox letter, Papermania rub-on, Kay &Co Marcella metal embellishment, stranded cotton. Used for the inner: DCWV cardstock, DCWV paper (from Spring Stack), Studio G stamp, EK Success multi-stamp, K&Co Letters to Go, DCWV alpha stickers, KI Memories ribbons, May Arts ribbon, Papermania brads, black Sakura pen.

Nothing to show.....

.....just yet! Started working on the latest CPS card last night and hoping to finish it today so will post it when I do. My parents came around yesterday and had lunch so it was great to see them. We also had a knock on the door at lunchtime from the local Police Community Support officers! Nothing to worry about though - last week I took the kids to the Police Community Day they had locally and they got to play with the CCTV van and meet the Officers. Jamie entered the colouring competition and the PCSOs came to tell us that he'd won 1st prize! He received a bag full of goodies - pens, pencils, stickers, reflective stickers, bike safety stuff, a T-shirt and a Virgin gift card. His picture is going to be in the local evening paper some time next week but silly old me forgot to take my own photo of him receiving his prize! DOH! Had another really bad night with Jess - up 4 times with her trying to bite my chin to take away the teething pain!

Christmas cards

Following on from the Use Your Stash - DCWV challenge on UKScrappers I made a few Christmas cards today - all really simple.

For all of them I used: generic cardstock, DCWV papers, Creative Imaginations rub-ons (Marah Johnson Christmas), DCWV stickers, black Impress ink, black Brilliance ink, Technique Tuesday Straight & Narrow stamp, Dovecraft brads, KI Memories ribbon, red staples.

Won't be able to get much crafting done tomorrow - have to clean the house in the morning as my parents are coming over for lunch. They only live half an hour away but we haven't seen them for about a month as they've been away in their motorhome touring the UK. Got to get a visit in this week as they're off gallivanting again next week!

Di Hickman August sketch #5

Don't forget to check out Di Hickman's card sketch today. Here's my card:

I thought I'd have a change and try to do a masculine card as I seem to have had a thing for flowers recently!

Used: generic cardstock, KI Memories paper from Funky Paper pad, Papermania ribbon, KI Memories stamps, black Brilliance ink, Black Impress ink. Scrapworks wordz, hugz and dotz, EK Success multi-stamp.

Will hopefully (daughter permitting!) be back later to update with today's offerings!

2 cards

That's about all I managed to do this weekend as Jess has started teething and is really grouchy. Did find a solution yesterday - got a carrot out of the fridge for her to chew on and she loved it as it was cold and hard. Must remember to buy one of those teething rings you can put in the fridge.

These cards were made for the "Use your stash - DCWV challenge" on UKScrappers.

Used: DCWV cardstock, DCWV papers from the floral print stack, Penny Black stamped image coloured using Prismacolor pencils, Dovecraft photo anchor, DCWV brad and a Studio G stamped greeting done using black Brilliance ink.

This card is to go in a goody box I'm making up for my SIL instead of the usual bunch of flowers. Just got to wait for everything I've ordered from Ebay to turn up and then I can pack the box.

This is another card for the challenge:

Again all the items used are the same as above with the addition of some eyelets that I've had for years. This one is probably for my Mum or MIL for their birthday next month.

Burgers, car and LO!

So today we took the kids to McDonalds for lunch - we only go once in every school holiday, including half-terms, so this was their summer trip! Before that we went to B&Q to try and find a new toilet seat as the boys have been letting it drop and have now broken it! Didn't manage to find one but I did come out with a stack of paint colour strips! Jess slept all the way through her first trip to McDonalds, bless her, but the fun started when we went to leave and the car wouldn't start properly. We had the same problem yesterday when we went to Tavistock and I thought we'd have to call out the AA but it started eventually. By the time we got home though the engine sounded terrible and having looked at it Neil thinks it could be terminal! Seeing as he works about a 20 minute drive from home I decided to take my car and do the weekly shop this afternoon so he can use my car next week if he needs to. Jess was in bed by just before 9pm tonight so I've finished a LO - the pic isn't too good though as I photographed it in the wrong light so may have to redo it tomorrow:

Used: DCWV and Bazzill cardstock, Heidi Grace Baby Girl papers, Heidi Swapp chipboard alphabet, MAMBI monogram, Scrapworks Colorubz flower, Marvy pen, Sticko sticker, various ribbons, Prima flower, DCWV brad.

Trying to decide whether to stay up a bit longer and start making some cards or go to bed!

She's doing OK

Spoke to my SIL this morning and she's doing OK, thank God! It was a myxoma (a usually benign tumour that grows in the heart) that she had. She's pretty dosed up on morphine and hoping to be moved to a normal cardiac ward tomorrow. She's probably going to be in hospital for about 5 days and then recovering at home for at least 6 weeks during which time she's not allowed to lift anything heavier than a half-filled kettle. I'm just so glad that she was diagnosed and operated on quickly! On a happier note, here's a pic of Jess taken today:

Worrying times

Today my SIL had an emergency heart operation at the age of 39! She's been feeling breathless when walking for a few weeks and after we all had a go at her on holiday she went to the Dr who chcked her over and did an ECG which was fine. Dr then sent her for a chest x-ray and blood tests which she had on Tuesday then phoned her at work this morning to tell her they'd made an emergency appointment for her to see a cardiologist this afternoon. Within an hour of her seeing the cardiologist she was in theatre having a growth removed from her heart. Apparently this could well have been there since birth but has never been picked up and was constricting the blood flow in her heart. The op went well and she now has to spend at least 5 days in hospital but as it's miles away from us I feel pretty useless and feel like I should be doing something to help. My in-laws are off to stay at her house tomorrow so hopefully we'll know more once they see her. I've made her a card to send tomorrow: This was done using sketch this cards #23. I used: DCWV cardstock, KI Memories paper, Dovecraft paper, K&Co letters to go, Prima flowers, Technique Tuesday straight and narrow stamps, Studio G stamp, black Brilliance ink.

Must just mention that I took Jess to be weighed this afternoon and she was 16lbs 4oz and following the growth curve beautifully.

CPS #27

Well, having had a break from challenges for a few weeks due to holiday and then flu I'm now back!! Had a go at the CPS #27 sketch:

Used: DCWV cardstock, DCWV paper (from Floral Stack), KI Memories paper (from funky paper pad), Studio G stamps, MoBe Passport stamps, Technique Tuesday Straight & narrow stamps, Brilliance ink, Impress ink, flower from dismantled silk flower, button from my huge collection, tag (cut by a friend) and MM safety pin.

Hoping to catch up on the latest DCM challenge later.

Beany baby

Managed only one Lo today as had a bad day with Jess which started when she woke up at 4.45 this morning for a feed and then refused to go back to sleep afterwards! She's usually great at going back in her cot but this morning she didn't want to know! She had a little cat nap when we were walking around the supermarket (we weren't there long) and then was overtired at lunchtime and decided to scream for quite a while and nothing would pacify her. Luckily she was asleep tonight before 9pm so I actually got to watch Heroes while it was on and not a recording and then managed this LO afterwards:

Used: Bazzill cardstock, Heidi Grace papers (Mushroom), Heidi Swapp chipboard alpha, K&Co Hannah embossed stickers, K&Co Beyond Postmarks metal embellishment, chalk ink, Black Sakura pen, MAMBI sticker, Prima flower and Dovecraft brad.

Don't forget to check out Di Hickman's blog for the new card sketch today. Unfortunately Di missed my email with my card but is hoping to upload it later so I'll post it here now:

For the card I used: HOTP papers from Cardmaker's pack, gingham ribbon, flower from dismantled silk flower, button from my box, Studio G stamp and Impress black ink.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day and I'll get a bit more creativity going! In the afternoon I'm hoping to take Jess to the baby clinic and have her weighed - I'm guessing she'll be about 15lbs 10oz. After that we're going to drive over to meet OH after work and go and sit outside the pub down on the waterfront for a while if the weather's nice and so Jackie (who OH works with) can see Jess again.

Nothing today....

so here's what I made yesterday for the Use Your Stash challenge on UKScrappers. I only own 3 sheets of Basic Grey paper as I'm not a fan of it but I do have some rub-ons so used those: Used: Unknown cardstock, KI Memories paper from my new Funky paper pad, green handmade paper bought a few years ago, BG Wholly Cow rub-on, black Impress ink, various fibres (got loads to use up) and a Dovecraft brad.

For this one I used: Bazzill cardstock, Chatterbox papers, black Impress ink, ribbon (bought last week on holiday) , BG Wholly Cow rub-on, black pen and my scalloped circle punch.

Will leave you with a gorgeous pic of Jess that I took today. Hard to believe that a couple of weeks ago she'd scream the house down if you put her on her tummy but now she much prefers it to lying on her back! Think she's going to be one feisty little girl!

And some more

Actually got to do 2 LOs yesterday - OH took the 2 boys out to a model railway exhibition for a couple of hours so I had a bit of time to myself with Jess asleep.
First up is Jess meeting Grandad (OH's Dad) for the first time. Didn't really "pretty" this one up as the colours were so difficult to work with.
Used: Paper Reflections cardstock, Scrapworks Rubz, Autumn Leaves jeans tag, Studio G stamps and a Marvy pen.

Then we have Jess in her bouncy chair - I'm quite proud of this photo I took.

Used:Paper Reflections cardstock, Scenic Route papers, Scrapworks Rubz, MAMBI Soft Spoken sticker, Studio G stamp, Marvy pen and Dovecraft brads.

The parcel man has just come with my KI Memories funky paper pad I ordered last week so I'm dying to start using it. It'll be fab for cardmaking. I spoke to my MIL yesterday and she's offered to take some of my cards to a craft fair she's doing in October so I think I'll have to make a few more cards. I used to have a shop on Ebay selling cards a few years ago until they introduced fees for shops and haven't really sold many cards since so I'll give it a go.

Another one!

Just used the last half an hour to do yet another LO! Like most of my recent ones there's no patterned paper and very little in the way of embellishments - don't know why though - it's not like I don't own any!!!

This is Jamie performing at school before receiving his class numeracy prize last month.

Used: DCWV cardstock, MM rub-on alphabet ( Rummage -cranberry), Rhona Farrer rub-ons and a black Sakura Micron pen.

Can post this now.....

.....this tag was part of my entry for the GoGo Greetings DT which unfortunately I didn't get on to but hey! at least I gave it a go. I may try again for another DT at some point now Jess is older but then again I may not!!LOL!

This was another one of those "unplanned" projects - you know the ones where you just start off by thinking "I'll make a Christmas tag" and then it all sort of takes shape amongst the huge amounts of stash that you've pulled out of every conceivable drawer, nook or cranny!

Been busy

scrapping: This is Jess meeting her Great Gran for the first time - a 94 year age difference between them!

Used:DCWV cardstock, DCWV alpha stickers (blue) and Creative Imaginations stickers (white), white Signo pen.

Next up is Jess meeting my sister, her Aunty Karen. Used: Paper Reflections cardstock, DCWV paper from the Spring Stack, KI Memories curly stamps, MM colorboard sticker, K&Co sticker, Scrapworks Rubz, Marvy pen and lots of machine sewing Last but not least a great photo of Matthew - I love this one!

Used: Bazzill cardstock, KI Memories papers, MM Misunderstood foam stamps, Anita's acrylic paint, Zig black pen, Pebbles Inc sticker, KI ice candy, Creative Imaginations epoxy sticker, American Crafts rub-ons.

Not 100% yet.....

but definitely a lot better than I was. I actually feel like getting all my stash out and playing which can only be a good sign! Made this card yesterday: Used: Penny Black image, Rob and Bob paper, DCWV cardstock, Prismacolour pencils, KI Memories stamp, unknown ribbon, Dovecraft photo anchor and unknown brad.

May have to have another go with this stamp letter and make another card (or two!).

Also managed to get my card made for Di Hickman's card sketch ready for the 22nd August upload. Don't forget to check out her great sketches - there's layouts there too as well as cards.

Got to go out soon to post a couple of cards and get a bit of shopping but then hoping to get some more things made. Jess seems to have recovered from her jabs yesterday although one of her legs feels really hot. She was asleep by 8.15 last night and out of bed at 8.30 this morning although she was up for feeds at 1.30 and again at 6. We've started her on small amounts of baby rice and she seems to like it although she does seem more interested in grabbing the spoon at the moment!

Getting there....

Feeling a bit better today, thankfully! Had to take Jess for her final set of jabs this morning and although she seems to have slept quite a bit since we came back she seems OK in herself. Have managed to get some crafting done today:

This was made for my in-laws to thank them for the fab holiday we've just been on (they paid for our accommodation).

I used a Penny Black image and coloured with Prismacolour pencils - my first attempt at using them and quite pleased with the effect. Also used: English Paper Company papers, ribbon, Dovecraft brads, Impress ink and KI Memories curly alpha stamps.

Now that I'm feeling better I'm hoping to catch up with challenges I've missed starting with Di Hickman's card sketches

Cheering myself up

by spending money. Had saved up for the holiday and didn't spend it all so OH told me to buy something for myself - well you can't argue with that can you?!?!
These 180 sheets of KI paper will soon be flying over from the US for me followed by a bundle of Heidi Grace paper and 8.5" x 11" Bazzill from TwoPeas. Let's hope I feel like crafting when they arrive!

How gorgeous are these kids?

Just a few of my fave photos from the holiday.

Will be back......

shortly! Returned from a week's holiday camping in North Wales with family and am now suffering with flu so not up to blogging yet. Been really looking forward to coming home and scrapping but now can't face it!

So, over on Heather's blog I came across the following: It’s been said that allegedly if you’ve seen over 85 movies you have no life. Mark the ones you’ve seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own blog, paste it in and put x’s by the ones that you have seen. Add them up........if you're reading this, consider yourself tagged! I've highlighted in red all the ones I've seen! The LO!

Well, I scanned the LO but not sure you can see it properly. The colours don't look quite right -I think because of the lumpiness on the RHS.
This was done using the Sketch this #23 sketch.
Materials used: DCwv cardstock (from the Spring Stack), KI Memories flowery paper, Scenic Route paper, SEI alphabet stickers (basketball), a Deja Views vellum sticker, various Prima flowers, beads and some embossing with my Shapeboss.

Busy busy!

Been busy today doing washing, packing, shopping and tidying ready for the hols. Then spent a few hours this afternoon trying to get a very tired little girl to sleep! My first card for Di Hickman's card sketch went live today. Was a great sketch to work with and would love to see other people's "take" on it. I got to use some of my beloved KI Memories paper on mine so I'm happy!

Did manage to do a LO in half an hour this evening and will post later if I can get it to scan OK - can't take a photo as the memory card is full and OH has gone to bed so I can't sort it out.
