FWF - An experiment and Happy Birthday Mum!!

I'd like to start this post by wishing my wonderful Mum a fabulous birthday ....21 again LOL! I'll be seeing her this afternoon as I'm cooking a meal tonight  for her and my step-Dad so can't wait :-)

While trawling through one of the local bargain shops I found a roll of self adhesive cork sheet so bought it, not knowing what I was going to use it for.
Yesterday when I pulled out these photos to make this layout I decided I wanted to try and use the cork and give a layout a "memo board" feel so this is what I did.

I cut a piece of cork slightly smaller than the 12" square cardstock and stuck it on top then started my layout from there.
All stamps used on here are from the fabulous Unity kit - One Precious Life which, if you're in the UK, you can buy from Emily here. I stamped the title on to a Fancy Pants journalling card and the other stamps straight on to the cork (which worked beautifully!) using brown Memento ink. I also stamped a couple of birds on to cream cardstock and cut them out before mounting on foam pads.

Materials used: Bazzill cardstock, Unity stamps (as above), brown Memento ink, Fancy Pants journalling card, Prima flowers and flower centres, Making Memeories gingham ribbon, Queen & Co large metal brads, DCWV small brads, Dovercraft pearl brads.
Also used: self adhesive cork sheet, cotton lace, vintage glass and plastic buttons, metal flowers taken from a necklace, sewing thread.

Your next stop if you're following FWF should be the talented Stephanie (love her work!) or see the Unity blog for a full list. Keep an eye out for that Flair blinkie and leave a comment on the blog to be in with a chance to win some stamps!

Thanks for visiting my blog and come back soon (please LOL!)
