ICSketches #41

I haven't updated for a few days as my dear MIL came to stay on Friday and left this morning :( It was Jamie's 10th birthday yesterday so we had a party tea last night (just family) and had a great time. Today it's Tuesday which means it's time for another of Dawn's fab sketches over on the Inspirational Card Sketches blog. This week the blog is being sponsored by DigiStamp Boutique and Sally-Ann provided the DT with digital stamp images. I chose to work with the oh-so-cute Olly.

Olly was printed 4 times on to brown patterned paper, brown, green and white paper and then the various elements cut out and layered. The white card on his tummy was chalked.

Materials used: Bazzill cardstock, DCWV papers from the Green Stack, white, green and brown paper, Deluxe Designs chalks, Rob and Bob Studio clips, Scrapworks Rubz alphabet rub-ons, black gel pen and organza ribbon, pins and ribbon flower from stash.

Don't forget to check out the other DT girl's blogs to see what they made this week!

ICSketches #39

After taking a break from Inspirational Card Sketches last week (due to attending FIL's funeral and having MIL to stay afterwards) I'm back with a card for this week's fab sketch #39.

This week we're sponsored by

Doodle Palace and if you play along with the sketch you could win 4 free digi-images. Don't forget to pop along to the other DT ladies' blogs to see their fab work and leave them some love!

Anyway here's my card which I had great fun making:

I used white card embossed with a Fiskars embossing plate to make the moon and used black soot distress ink around the edges. The dark blue card was lightened around the moon by using white chalk ink. The rocket image from Doodle Palace was printed on to watercolour paper and then coloured using Caran D'Ache watercolour pencils. The planet is from a digi-doodles set by the fab Kate Hadfield and the stars are acetate ones covered with Stickles. There are also Stickles dotted on the background and then the starburst under the rocket is embossed stamping.

Materials used: blue Stardream card, white Papermill card, Fiskars embossinjg plate, Black Soot distress ink, white Colorbox chalk ink, watercolour paper, rocket ship from Doodle Palace, planet from Kate Hadfield, Heidi Swapp acetate stars, Stickles glitter glue, Fancy Pants Fresh Mod stamp, Creative Beginnings embossing powder, Creative Imagination alphabet stickers.

Curtains!

I seem to have discovered a love for all things vintage as well as finding myself looking at loads of altered art, mixed media and textile arts sites. I've always loved looking at this kind of work but thought it was something I was unable to achieve but now I think it's about time I gave it a go! I mean, art and craft is all about having fun in the process and well, if something good comes out at the end then that's a bonus LOL! I made this card today, not for any reason in particular but just because I wanted to have a play. Hopefully my style will improve/evolve if I keep playing: I used: Kraft card from my Crafty Templates prize, image from Ebay CD, paper by LetteringDelights.com, text from vintage children's book, Prima flower, vintage glass button and necklace, Shimmerz, lace, K&Co metal sticker, Marcella metal word, MM safety pin, Tibetan silver heart charm and Distress inks.

It was a hit!

The kids were very impressed after looking around the new school although that could all change tomorrow when they actually have lessons there! Matthew decreed it was "awesome" and "radical"!!! *methinks the boy doth watch too much trash!* Jess hasn't walked very much today but has been climbing up on my chair and emptying my bookcase of it's cardmaking magazines. The sooner I can get her crafting the better! I hadn't managed to do anything today until the past half an hour when I actually got a card made from start to finish and used a Chatterbox tag that has been in my stash for at least 3 years (another one of those things that I loved but didn't want to use).

I used: DCWV cardstock, paper from Kay Miller's Allorganic kit, Chatterbox tag, K&Co sticker, Prima flowers, velvet ribbon and gemstones.

A crown.....

The challenge today for "card a day"over at the CSD forum was to make a card with a crown on. Mine's a wee bit "in your face"LOL!

I used: Papermill card, all papers by Robin Carlton & Christy Lyle from the Girl next Door collection at Sweet Shoppe Designs, chipboard crown by Marah Johnson for Creative Imaginations, Doodlebug Just my Type alphabet stickers, ribbon, ribbon charm, gemstones and Kaiser gemstones, black gel pen.

Other news today - Jess walked 5 steps on her own!!!! She's been doing 2 or 3 up til now so this is the most she's managed and she was so pleased with herself! Unfortunately I only caught the tail end of it as I was out in the kitchen cooking so I'm hoping to see more tomorrow.

We're off to have a tour around the boys' new school tomorrow morning before they start properly on Thursday. Really hoping Matthew likes it as he doesn't cope well with change and if he decides he doesn't like it could set him back months. It takes him ages to settle in and he was just starting to do really well so we're keeping our fingers and everything else crossed.

In answer to some questions from Toni - yes, that was Neil with Jess in the photos and she does look an awful lot like him but does have my eyes. She loves the boys to bits and will quite happily spend all day sitting/standing around watching them and loves nothing better than when they make her laugh. Tonight when Jamie was laid on the floor she went over to him and sat on his face then because he laughed she decided to keep bouncing up and down on him! I can guarantee that when they go back to school on Thursday she'll be like a bear with a sore head and mope and pine for them all day. She really does miss them when they're not here so I'll have to try and keep her busy.
