3 Mother's Day cards

So yesterday I made 3 Mother's Day cards for my Mum, step-Mum and mother-in-law:

This one's for my Mum.

I used: DCWV cardstock, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Papermania Olivine paper, Nestabilities die-cut, Studio G stamp, black Versafine ink and Making Memories ribbon.

One for my step-Mum.

I used: white card, Papermania paper, Sizzlits diecut flower, DCWV cardstock, Papermania brad.

And one for my Mother-in-law.

I used: Papermill card, Cuttlebug embossing folder, chipboard from cheap craft shop, Prima flowers and unknown brad.

I made the appointment for Jess to see the specialist and now have to wait until April 3rd.

Update on Jess

Took Jess to the Dr today who agreed that she did have a yellow tinge to her skin particularly on her face. He had a feel of her tummy so saw what colour that was too but doesn't have a clue why she is this colour. He's referred us to a specialist at the local hospital as there may be quite a few reasons why she's like this. I've just got to ring up for an appointment now. I'm glad he actually listened to me and didn't fob me off and I'm not feeling silly about being paranoid now.

Di's card sketch Feb #4

So I've been quite busy for the past few days making Mother's Day cards of which I have 3 to make (for my American friends - Mother's Day in the UK is this Sunday) and creating with some new bits from Kate so I have nothing really new to show you apart from my card for Di's sketch which went live today:

I used: My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus papers, 7 Gypsies chipboard, Ranger crackle paint, Creative Imaginations gingham ribbon, Nestabilities die-cuts, Maya Road chipboard bird, MoBe Beatnik alphabet stamps, black Versafine ink, Magic motifs flock, black and white gel pens.

Jess's first tooth actually broke through her gum today - hooray! The boys got their first teeth at 6 months and she's just coming up to 11 months so we've been waiting for quite a while!

2 quick ones

I did these 2 LOs yesterday and although I said they were quick it did take ages to die-cut all the letters for the 2nd one!

Ths one's an 8" x 8" of the first time Jess stood up holding on and playing with her baby walker.

I used: DCWV cardstock, DCWV vellum quote, Cuttlebug (You're not the boss of me) die-cut alphabet, unknown ribbon and brads and black gel pen.

I used: Bazzill cardstock, DCWV Nana's kids paper, Cuttlebug (swiss dots) embossing folder, Sizzlits (round-a-bout) die-cut alphabet, Quickutz (Maggie mini) die-cut alphabet, Deja Views stickers, Prima flowers and unknown make of gemstones.

I've been out shopping this morning with Jess and am hoping that when she has a sleep later I can get to visit some blogs or get something creative done! (or maybe some housework!)

Card with a tag

That was the challenge for the card-a-day today. Typically it came after I used a tag for yesterday's card so I had to come up with something different:

I used: Papermill card, K&CO Small Wonders papers, 7Gypsies chipboard tag, K&Co Neopolitan stickers, Making Memories jump rings, Papermania safety pin and button, various ribbons, Marvy pen.

A departure.......

from the norm!!! Yep, not only is it a 12" x 12" LO but I've used a circle as well! *gasp! shock! horror!*

I used: K&Co Amy Butler Belle papers, Sizzlits Round-a-Bout die-cuts in funky foam, Quickutz Studio skinni-mini die-cuts, Heidi Grace plastic heart, MAMBI and Kaiser rhinestones.

Di's card sketch Feb #3

So here's my card for Di's sketch this week:

I used: Papermill card, Making Memories paper, flower from fabric bouquet, Papermania button, KI Memories ribbon, Sue Dreamer alphabet stickers, white Signo pen, pink Marvy pen, stranded cotton.

School went brilliantly today! Matthew was really excited on the walk up there and when it came to going in to class he gave me a kiss and a hug and walked straight in without even looking back which is a miracle for him! When he came out this afternoon his teacher gave me a big thumbs-up sign and said he was fine - such a relief!!

I took Jess to the baby clinic today to get her weighed - 21lbs 9oz or 9.78kg! Not doing too badly then. The health visitor did confirm what I've been thinking for a while though that Jess does have a very definite yellow tint to her skin which is particularly noticeable around her nose and mouth. I've thought it for a while especially after looking at all her photos and my Mum saw it a couple of weeks ago but didn't want to say anything but eventually did this morning.Anyway I've booked us an appointment with the GP next week so hopefully he can put my mind at rest.

It was a hit!

The kids were very impressed after looking around the new school although that could all change tomorrow when they actually have lessons there! Matthew decreed it was "awesome" and "radical"!!! *methinks the boy doth watch too much trash!* Jess hasn't walked very much today but has been climbing up on my chair and emptying my bookcase of it's cardmaking magazines. The sooner I can get her crafting the better! I hadn't managed to do anything today until the past half an hour when I actually got a card made from start to finish and used a Chatterbox tag that has been in my stash for at least 3 years (another one of those things that I loved but didn't want to use).

I used: DCWV cardstock, paper from Kay Miller's Allorganic kit, Chatterbox tag, K&Co sticker, Prima flowers, velvet ribbon and gemstones.

A crown.....

The challenge today for "card a day"over at the CSD forum was to make a card with a crown on. Mine's a wee bit "in your face"LOL!

I used: Papermill card, all papers by Robin Carlton & Christy Lyle from the Girl next Door collection at Sweet Shoppe Designs, chipboard crown by Marah Johnson for Creative Imaginations, Doodlebug Just my Type alphabet stickers, ribbon, ribbon charm, gemstones and Kaiser gemstones, black gel pen.

Other news today - Jess walked 5 steps on her own!!!! She's been doing 2 or 3 up til now so this is the most she's managed and she was so pleased with herself! Unfortunately I only caught the tail end of it as I was out in the kitchen cooking so I'm hoping to see more tomorrow.

We're off to have a tour around the boys' new school tomorrow morning before they start properly on Thursday. Really hoping Matthew likes it as he doesn't cope well with change and if he decides he doesn't like it could set him back months. It takes him ages to settle in and he was just starting to do really well so we're keeping our fingers and everything else crossed.

In answer to some questions from Toni - yes, that was Neil with Jess in the photos and she does look an awful lot like him but does have my eyes. She loves the boys to bits and will quite happily spend all day sitting/standing around watching them and loves nothing better than when they make her laugh. Tonight when Jamie was laid on the floor she went over to him and sat on his face then because he laughed she decided to keep bouncing up and down on him! I can guarantee that when they go back to school on Thursday she'll be like a bear with a sore head and mope and pine for them all day. She really does miss them when they're not here so I'll have to try and keep her busy.

Stuff for Kate

So Kate has done a collaboration kit here and this is what I did with her elements from the kit:

I used: DMD cardstock, Bazzill cardstock, elements from the kit, black gel pen and an abundance of 3d foam pads!

I used: Papermill card, DCWV cardstock, heart by Kate, paper by Amy Wolff at The Lilypad, black gel pen, pink staples and KI Memories ribbon.

The weekend's LOs

I only manaaged 3 LOs this weekend and they were all simple ones. Unfortunately I had to do some housework or I'd have got more done!

I used: Bazzill cardstock, Sizzlits fruit smoothie die-cut alphabet, Fancy Pants chipboard, DCWV paper, MM twistel, American Crafts mini-mark rub-on arrow, Scrapworks Rubz, Kaiser gemstones and a Marvy pen.

This one's an 8" x 8" one.

I used: DCWV cardstock, Fancy Pants Fresh Mod stamp, white Brilliance ink, Around the Block epoxy alphabet sticker, Nestabilities die-cuts, Around the Block photo corner brad, Marvy pen, Fastenator staple.

And finally another 8" x 8". I can't get the colours of this one right - the cardstock background is actually white but looks pink here!

Used: DCWV cardstock, Chatterbox velvet stickers, American Crafts mini-marks rub-on, Marvy pen.

It's so cold

here today! Way too cold to go out anywhere so we've stayed in the warm! The temperature however hasn't deterred Jess from performing her latest trick of taking her top off!:

Updated

Well, I've managed to update the layout of my blog but still need to go through and see what I've missed out. I know there's links to sketch sites and cardmaker's blogs that I've yet to put on!

My space!!!

For anyone that may be interested I thought I'd blog a bit about "my space" where I create. I live in a Victorian terraced house and our dining and living room has been knocked in to one room. My space is a corner of the dining room next to the window and measures about 6 foot square but I seem to have a huge amount crammed in to that area (as you'll see!).

In the alcove on the right I have a large desk with stuff underneath and then a shelf unit sat on the desk to make the most of the space and a couple more shelves above attached to the wall. Under the desk I have tons more storage. On the left at right angles to my desk is an old bedroom chest of drawers and Neil has fixed an MDF worktop to it so I can use all the space.

Right, my desk! Under the shelf in the baskets I have adhesives, punches, stickles, and crackle paints. The blue drawers on the right house all my rub-ons!

Up on the next level I have magazines and a few idea books then brads and eyelets, chalk sets, MM attachment sets, metal embossing set, glitters, pens, more adhesives and tools. I also have my fab Sennheiser headphones sat here waiting for the time when I can listen to my mp3 player! The pink trays house layouts to be filed and paperwork I need to sort out.

Above all this I have 2 shelves fixed to the wall. On the bottom one I have my metal embellishments in little DIY drawers, then various Prima flowers and Doodlebug glitter. The first set of black drawers has all my ink pads and Pearl-ex. The 4 square drawers hold magic mesh, fabric embellishments, Scrapworks stuff and Junkitz. The last 3-drawer set on the right is wood mounted alphabet stamps and then the few odd wood mounted stamps that I have.

The upper shelf has 8 jars of ribbon sorted by colour, Maya Road chipboardand Ikea boxes - one with Cuttlebug embossing folders and spare cutting plates and the other with reels of sewing thread. Then I have pouches of recent photos to be scrapped, more Prima flowers from bitty bags and then 6 embellishment boxes of various odd bits and pieces sorted by colour. The A4 files hold foam alphabet stamps and the blue drawers on the right are smaller bits of scrap paper also sorted by colour.

Under my desk I have a 3 drawer plastic storage tower which is full of scrap bits of paper and collage type items which I really must try and use some day! To the right the blue A4 storage has all my A4 & letter size card along with various stickers and paper type embellishments and a fair few sheets of vintage Letraset. The 2 files sat on the floor on the right are EZ-mounted alphabet stamps and other rubber with my Sizzlits alphabets sitting on top

To the right of my desk and sitting under the window I have 2 old bedside cabinets stacked on top of one another. The bottom 4 drawers are full of 12 x12" card and then a few drawers of 12 x 12 paper pads. The top drawer I use for throwing in stuff "to be sorted"!

My other 12" x 12" paper is kept "by manufacturer" in plastic bags in this Really Useful Box which sits on top of the printer cabinet.

On the left I have my stamp storage sitting on top of the old chest of drawers. All my clear stamps have been taken out of packets, trimmed down and stored in CD cases. I have a fairly good memory of what I have so have just written the title of the sets on the CD cases. The far left 25 odd cases are full of Studio G stamps which I love! (you can get 8 sets in each case - LOL!). I've also put some old wood mounted sets that I took off the wood in CD cases.

The Asda lunch tims sitting on top of the CD rack hold Marvy pens, Prismacolor pencils, MM embellishments, Heidi Swapp stuff and bling! To the right you can just see my sewing machine.

The chest of drawers underneath holds sewing machine accessories, tools, beads, book rings, 6" x 6" paper pads and card making stuff like envelopes and poly bags.

The pink flowery boxes on the left in the first photo have chipboard, stamp sets that won't fit in the CD rack and stamping blocks.

For Toni who asked what I did with all the cards I make - they're in a great big box upstairs along with my felt, fabric and buttons!

Well, if you got to the end - well done! I told you my little space held a fair bit but I know exactly where everything is and could tell you what make it is and where I bought it from!

Di's card sketch Feb #2

Wednesday so it's time for Di's card sketch :

I used: DCWV cardstock, K&Co McKenna paper, stampbord, Colorbox chalk ink, Studio G stamp, Marvy pens, ribbons, american Craft mini-mark rub-on.

Gorgeous?!?

Jess with red eyes (lack of sleep!), pen on her face (Matthew left a pen lying around!) and food on her top (she rips off bibs while she's eating and hates wearing them!) but she's still gorgeous!

I used: Bazzill cardstock, K&Co McKenna paper, MAMBI alphabet stickers, Queen & Co felt fusion, Kaiser gemstones, PSX pixie antique alphabet stamps, Stampabilities vintage typewriter alphabet stamps, Hero Arts mixed alphabet stamps, Inkadinkadoo Studio K alphabet stamps, black versafine ink.

Unfortunately, because the object of the above LO (my darling daughter) got hold of my mobile phone earlier today I have spent the best part of 2 hours researching phones and finally buying a new one! She sucked my old one and dribbled all over the charging socket which has done the phone and battery no good at all and now it won;t switch on at all!! Kids!

The park!

So yesterday was a beautiful day here allbeit a little cold! We walked to the local shop for bread and stuff and then went straight to the park which is just behind our house. I don't like going there with the kids sometimes as it (goes without saying) is a local hang-out place for yobs and there is usually loads of swearing going on along with broken glass bottles. However yesterday there was no rubbish lying around and the teenagers were busy playing football so "my lot" could enjoy themselves. It was the first time Jess has been in a swing and she absolutely loved it! Can't wait to take her back again. We were hoping to go today but it's freezing out there and the ice is only just clearing off the cars. Maybe we'll stay in the warm today! Oh! I need to point out that in the afternoon I cut the boys' hair as it had got way too long!

2 Layouts

Well it was the first "proper" day of half-term today with me at home with the kids while OH was at work. My Mum and step-dad came over this morning with Timmy who is absolutely adorable and loves cuddles! The only one who wasn't too sure was Jess who got upset every time he came near her. I think she was probab;y used to Freddie who used to come in the house and find a nice place to lie down whereas Timmy is only 5 months old and quite active. I completed 2 layouts today. The first is an 8" x 8":

I used: DCWV cardstock, Papermania retro floral paper, American Crafts thickers, Cuttlebug Olivia die-cuts, Scrapworks Rubz alphabet, black gel pen, Prima flowers, Kaiser gemstones.

The next is back to my favourite size of 8.5" x 11":

I used: Bazzill cardstock, 7 Gypsies chipboard, Amy Butler Belle papers, Doodlebug Just my Type alphabet stickers, Banana Frog Steelfish stamps, Versafine black ink, EKSuccess metal alphabet stickers, alcohol ink, Technique Tuesday stamp (straight and narrow), Creative Imaginations epoxy stickers, Phrase Cafe sticker, black gel pen.

Here's my card for CPS #49 . It didn't turn out quite as planned but I suppose it's OK: Used: DCWV cardstock, K&Co Addison paper, KI Memories paper from Funky paper pad II, chipboard flowers, Kaiser gemstones, white Signo pen, black gel pen, Creative Cafe rub-on greeting.

End of an era

Today is the boy's last day at school before half-term and then they're off for 13 days. However, they're not going back to the same one after the break as a brand new a school has been built to replace their's and another local primary school so today is the final pupil day. They have a specially extended break to allow all the teachers to get everything moved up to the new place which, incidentally is now a 10 minute walk uphill instead of 2 minutes flat walking! Because the classes will be amalgamating with the ones from the other school this means that all their classmates will be changing and they'll have different teachers too. I made a card each for the boys to give their teachers (one I can't share with you yet as it's for Di's sketch next week) but here's one of them:

This one's for Matthew's teacher who has helped him so much since September and boosted his confidence considerably - he has thrived under her guidance but unfortunately she'll not be teaching him at the new school.

I used: DCWV cardstock, K&Co McKenna paper, MM charmed plaque, MM ribbon charm, organza ribbon, Prima flowers, DCWV brads.

One of Matthew's friends is also leaving school today as her family are moving to another area so here's the card I made for him to give to her:

I used: Papermill card, pink shimmery paper (Cuttlebug embossed), American Crafts ribbon, Prima flowers, Quickutz Metro skinni mini die-cuts, Nestabilities dies, gems.
