Card a day 31/05/08

Today's challenge for the "card-a-day" at Card Paper Scissors was to use metal on a card so I dug out all those eyelets that have been sitting around for ages:

I used: Papermill linen card, Nestabilities embossing die, Inkadinkado Birds Galore stamp, black Versafine ink, Inkadinkado sentiment stamp, Prismacolor pencils, Making Memories eyelets.

Card a day 30/05/08

Today's "card-a-day" challenge at Card Paper Scissors was to use paper by 3 different manufacturers on one card.

I used: Papermill card, KI Memories paper (from Funky Paper Pad II), Making Memories paper, DCWV paper, Inkadinkado dog stamp, Brilliance ink, black Sakura pen, K&Co letters to go, black brads, Making Memories brad and photo anchor, Dovecraft star brad.

Today's card-a-day challenge at Card, Paper, Scissors is to use something that has been in your stash, unused and unloved, for a while! I found a packet of Paper Reflections windows which I seem to remember buying on Ebay back in either 2003 or 2004 and hadn't opened so decided to use one!

I used: generic card blank, My Mind's Eye Magnolia paper, DCWV floral paper, Paper Reflections window die-cut, Scrapworks Rubz alphabet ("how old!"), Creative Cafe rub-on ("Happy Birthday"), My Mind's Eye Magnolia rub-ons ("21"), Making Memories tiny alphabet stickers ("again ?"), Creative Imaginations rub-on (corner), Papermani brads, Making Memories green cord ribbon.

So here's my card for Di's card sketch this week:

I used: generic card blank, A2Z papers, Sizzlits Round-a-bout die-cut alphabet in funky foam, Queen & Co felt fusion, Creative Cafe rub-ons ("hip hip hooray" and "celebrate"), extra large HOTP brad and AMerican Crafts mini-mark rub-on, Papermania star brad, large Dovecraft brads, blue gel pen.

Card a day 28/05/08

A number of the previous forums I've belonged to have had prompts for making a "card a day" but they all seemed to die a death so I thought (lightbulb moment!) why can't I try starting a forum and see if I can do it myself! So Card Paper Scissors was born and it may die a death but at least I gave it a go! Anyone interested in cardmaking can register and help me get it going! LOL! Here's my card for the first card-a-day challenge of using green, brown and blue:

I used: DCWV cardstock, K&Co Amy Butler papers, K&Co Amy Butler fabric brads, Heidi Grace quote stamp, black Versafine ink, black gel pen, stranded cotton, Prima flowers and a DCWV brad.

The rules: I have to answer 6 questions about myself. At the end I then have to tag 6 people.

1. What was I doing 10 years ago? I had just moved down to Devon and was working as a toll collector on the Tamar Bridge. Because I was on my own at the time I was working almost permanent night shifts, usually 84 hour weeks!

2. 5 things on my to-do list today? Catch up on all the washing that needs doing. Sort out the pile of clean laundry in my room and put it all away. Feed the kids!! (it's half-term and they're at home all week) Work on my new project (see sidebar for a clue) Give Jess a bath.

3. Snacks I enjoy? Chilli tortillas, thai sweet chilli crisps, maple and pecan crisp cereal.

4.Things I would do if I was a millionaire? Give some to my parents and my brother. Give some to my in-laws. Buy a house probably in either the Cotswolds or North Wales and make sure it had a dedicated scrapping room! Go on a holiday to the US.

5. Places I lived? OK here goes: Gateshead Keynsham Gloucester North Cadbury in Somerset Bruton in Somerset (at boarding school) Stanton Wick near Bristol Bath Aylesbury Aston near Oxford Carterton Banbury Kingston in Devon Plymouth!!

A couple of layouts

This one's a 12" x 12"! It's a while since I did this size!

I used: Bazzill cardstock, My Mind's Eye Front Porch paper, Quickutz Blossom Grand alphabet die-cuts, Basic Grey rub-on, HOTP brads and buttons, ric-rac, sewing machine and some ribbon salvaged from a gorgeous envelope sent to me by Toni.

This is an 8" x 8" one.

I used: DCWV cardstock, My Mind's Eye paper, Magic Mesh, Ellison Chunkadelic die-cut alphabet, Dovecraft alphabet stamps, black Versafine ink, My Mind's Eye Magnolia rub-ons, organza ribbon and black gel pen.

Still waiting to hear news of FIL's biopsies before the Dr's decide on his treatment.

If you have any positive vibes/thoughts/prayers please spare some for my wonderful father-in-law who has just been diagnosed with cancer and also for my mother-in-law who I want to give a huge hug to. Les - you have nothing to feel sorry for - just fight and beat this bl***y thing!!! xx

So yesterday was the upload day for Di's card sketch. Here's my DT card, which as a first for me, actually goes over the edge of the base card!!:

Di's card sketch April #5

OK - so I know it's May but here's the card I made for Di's April #5 card sketch

I used: Papermill card and Bazzill cardstock, Dovecraft retro floral papers, Prima flower, DCWV brad, sentiment sticker free with Papercrafts magazine and black Sakura Micron pen.

Today it's gloriously sunny here! The boys are playing outside while Jess is having a nap and I'm trying to get back on track with my blogging and crafting. Will hopefully be back later with more creations!
